Write one short script per lesson screen, convert each with VoiceHue and download the MP3 files to add to your course. One conversion takes up to 3,000 characters (about 500 English words, 3 minutes of speech), and it is free with no account.
Free text to speech: paste up to 3,000 characters, pick a voice and listen in your browser. The voices load in a moment.
Write a script for each screen. Keep each script to one idea and a few sentences.
Paste it and choose a voice. Paste the script into the tool above and pick one cloud voice for the whole course.
Convert and listen. Press Convert and listen with the screen in front of you.
Download and name the file. Download the MP3 and name it in lesson order, such as m1-l2-s3.
Add it to your course tool. Insert the audio on the matching screen in your course authoring tool.
A change to one screen then never forces you to redo the whole module. Short clips are also easier to review: a colleague can listen to one screen, say what is wrong, and you regenerate only that clip.
Choose one of the 6 cloud voices and keep the same voice and speed for the whole course, so learners are not distracted by changes. Speech runs at about 150 words a minute, so a clip of a minute needs roughly 150 words. A slightly slower speed can help with technical material.
Use short sentences, define a term when it first appears and spell out an acronym once. Do not read the on-screen text word for word: say what the screen shows and why it matters. Write numbers the way they should be spoken.
Each conversion takes up to 3,000 characters. Without an account you can convert 10,000 characters a day; when you are signed in, 30,000 characters a day, so a large course may take more than one day.
| Characters | Without an account | Signed in |

| Per day | 10,000 | 30,000 |
VoiceHue makes the voice only: it does not add music, captions or video, and there is no file upload for slides. Developers who build courses automatically can use the API, which has a free plan with its own limits. Read the licensing and copyright page on this site before you publish course audio.
