VoiceHue turns English text into speech for free, up to 3,000 characters per conversion, and English is one of four languages that can be generated entirely on your device. No sign-up or installation is needed.
Free text to speech: paste up to 3,000 characters, pick a voice and listen in your browser. The voices load in a moment.
Paste your text on the homepage, choose an English voice and press play.
The list combines the voices of your own device and browser with on-device voices.
Change the speed to slow down a hard passage or speed up a long read-through.
Everything runs in the browser, on desktop and mobile.
A conversion takes 3,000 characters, which is about 500 words or roughly three minutes of speech at a normal pace. That is enough for a short video script, a product description, a cover letter or one chapter section. Longer texts can be split into parts and converted one after another.
Device voices are the ones your browser already has, so they start instantly but differ between Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. On-device voices are generated in your browser; the first time you use one, the browser downloads it once and then reuses it. English, Spanish, Portuguese and French support on-device generation today.
Cloud voices are live: they play in the browser and download as MP3, free within the daily limits. The voices of your device also work for listening. A free developer API is available on the developers page, and one-time credit packs are planned, with no date yet (see pricing).
Creators check scripts before recording, students listen to notes while commuting, writers proofread by ear and teams preview training material. In each case the quickest path is the same: paste, choose a voice, listen, edit, and listen again. Because nothing needs to be installed, it works on a shared or school computer as well.
Use commas to create small pauses and full stops for longer ones. Spell out unusual abbreviations the first time, write numbers the way you want them read, and break very long sentences in two. If a brand or a name is mispronounced, try a phonetic respelling in the preview text only.
Yes, it is free and does not need an account or a credit card.
Up to 3,000 characters, which is about 500 English words or three minutes of audio.
Device voices come from your operating system and browser, so the list changes with them. On-device voices from VoiceHue stay the same everywhere once downloaded.
No. VoiceHue runs in the browser; the first on-device voice you use is downloaded once and reused.
Paste it into the free tool, pick a voice and press play. Cloud voices download as MP3, free within the daily limits.
