VoiceHue turns text into an MP3 you can download: paste up to 3,000 characters, pick a cloud voice, press Convert and download the file. It is free and needs no account; without one you can convert 2,000 characters a day, and 20,000 when you are signed in.
Free text to speech: paste up to 3,000 characters, pick a voice and listen in your browser. The voices load in a moment.
Paste your text in the tool above and choose a cloud voice; cloud voices carry an MP3 label.
Press Convert, listen, then press Download MP3 to save the file to your device.
Voices marked as browser voices are listen-only: they play through your device and cannot be saved.
If the download button is not active, the voice you chose is a browser voice; pick a cloud voice from the list and convert again.
The finished MP3 plays on any phone, computer or player, so listen to the first and last seconds of the file before you use it.
MP3 is a compressed format that is small and plays almost everywhere, which makes it a good choice for sharing, uploading and mobile. WAV is uncompressed, so nothing is lost to compression and the file is larger; on-device voices in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French save as WAV. Video editors, audio editors and most podcast tools import both. If you plan to edit the audio further, keep the original file and avoid re-encoding an MP3 several times, because converting between compressed formats loses quality each time.
Cloud voices cover English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Japanese and Korean and download as MP3. On-device voices for English, Spanish, Portuguese and French download as WAV. Other languages use the voices of your browser, which can be played but not saved. Cloud voices are free within a daily allowance of 2,000 characters without an account and 20,000 characters when you are signed in, so a very long script may need more than one day. The voices you see depend on your device and browser. To check a language quickly, switch the language in the tool and look at the voice list: the label on each voice shows whether it saves as MP3 or WAV.
Split long scripts at paragraph breaks into parts of up to 3,000 characters and convert each part with the same voice and speed, so the pieces match when you join them in your editor. Name the files in order, such as part-01 and part-02, and listen to the first seconds of each file before you move on. Keep your source text next to the files so you can regenerate one part without redoing the rest.
Drop the MP3 or WAV into a video editor as an audio track, into a podcast editor as an intro or into presentation software as narration. Keep the original text in the same folder as the audio, so anyone on your team can see exactly what was read. If a platform needs another format, convert the file there and keep the original for later changes.
